What software should I choose to begin my digital scrapbooking experience?
Peppytechie recommends Photoshop Elements 4.0 or 5.0 and now 6.0. Any of these products are great for getting you started with Digital scrapbooking.
Why Photoshop Elements over Photoshop?
COST $$$ and time (learning curve).
Photoshop Elements does all you really need with the wonderful tools it contains in relation to digital scrapbooking. Photoshop Elements borrows and simplifies. Photoshop does provide more options, but when you compare costs, you are talking less than $100 for Elements to over $400 for Photoshop, with many of the same tools. I have both Elements and full Photoshop. For teaching purposes and the learning curve, Photoshop Elements is my choice for beginners and even advanced digital scrapbooking. If you ever do decide to upgrade, all your photoshop elements files will work great in Photoshop.
One question I get asked is what about programs such HP scrapbook assistant, or Scrapbook Factory?
I think these programs are great for using cut and paste easy set up to get started or for a quick page you need to get out in 5 minutes.
However, if you are ready to go to the next level, and REALLY get creative with your own designs and ideas, I would recommend you start to learn and use Photoshop Elements or Photoshop to design your pages.
